Skip has over 33 years experience in the finance field. Skip graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance from the University of Colorado in 1976. Beginning in 1977, Skip worked as a financial advisor and Branch Manager for Dean Witter and A.G Edwards & Sons until 1986. He then joined Bank One, Cleveland N.A. as Senior Investment Officer until 1990 managing over $200 million in 800+ accounts.

In 1991, Skip attained his Chartered Financial Analyst designation and struck out on his own, setting up Murfey Asset Management Inc. in Willoughby Ohio. A major change in focus and emphasis brought about a name change in 2009 to Headwaters Investment Counsel, LLC.

Michael has been in the financial services industry since 1999 serving high net worth and institutional clients throughout North America. Prior to his role at Headwaters Investments, LLC, he managed his own hedge fund and worked in middle market investment banking. For the 22 years prior to 1999 Michael managed his family machine company serving as CFO and President. Michael's years as an independent advisor gives him the ability to create the best, unbiased, unrestricted solutions for his client's financial success.

In addition to Michael's depth of experience, his extensive education gives him the ability to assist his clients. He graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and furthered his post-graduate education in the Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Akron. Michael has earned: his Certified Financial Manager™ designation, Series 7 and 66 and is a Candidate for the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation.

Michael's level of community involvement is unrelenting. He is deeply involved in fund raising for such organizations as: University of Akron Scholarship Program, U of A Foundation, U of A Business College, Diocese of Cleveland, United Way and provided seed funds for the first Distinguished Chair in C.O.B. at the U of A. In addition to fund raising, Michael is the Founding Chairman for Summit County CRIMESTOPPERS™, has sat on the Investment Committee for U of A Foundation and on the boards for: Boy Scouts of America, First Tee of Akron, Ohio Ballet, Akron Civic Theater, ARC and many other charitable boards.

Will did his undergraduate work at Lakeland Community College and graduated from Kent State University in the spring of 2015 with a degree in Finance. Will is currently working towards earning his series 65 license and Chartered Financial Analyst designation. William has served as the Vice-President and Property Manager of Better Homes Ohio LLC, a Real Estate Investment firm, since 2012. Will assists in the day to day operations at Headwaters and supports the investment team in its evaluation of both strategy and direction.
